How a stupid boy and a snap story ended a friendship
A Snapchat story is something you can post on about where you are, what you’re doing, and what’s going on around you. It’s one of the main functions of Snapchat which not only affect people’s livelihood, but it also can affect personal relationships. Having the ability to easily post things for the public to see makes it common for fall outs and even drama to be spotlighted. My junior year of high school, in my friend group two of the girls had a problem with each other because of a boy who drove them apart. At first, I didn’t pick a side but with the others consistently talking about my best friend at the time on their stories, I wanted to defend her.
What was the negativity that came from using snapchat stories?
I was at home sick one day and grew tired of seeing their posts and decided to post something of my own. I gave them the same treatment they gave her and put it on my story, making it more of a public dispute. From there, it was back and forth of low blows from "this smells like" to "you look like". Not any of our proudest moments and unfortunately, many outsiders were able to comment on and put their two cents in. This whole situation of a public dispute on Snapchat affected our relationships tremendously more than it would’ve if we would’ve tackled this matter privately.
